Putnam County officials reported 504 newly confirmed cases in the latest data released by the Department of Health, bringing the total to 7,349 total cases out of 143,176 COVID-19 tests administered since the virus started spreading in early March last year.
The new virus-related deaths brought the total to 81. This is the third straight week the county has reported multiple COVID-19 fatalities after seeing a long stretch of zero or one death weekly for months.
There are currently 18 COVID-19 patients hospitalized in Putnam County, which is monitoring 394 active cases.
A breakdown of COVID-19 cases in Putnam County, according to the latest information released by the Department of Health as of Friday, Feb. 5:
- Carmel: 2,744 (200 new);
- Southeast: 1,471 (82);
- Kent: 935 (52);
- Putnam Valley: 839 (59);
- Patterson: 705 (61);
- Philipstown: 655 (50).
Statewide, a total of 1,440,718 positive COVID-19 cases have been confirmed out of 32.78 million tests that have been administered. There have been a total of 35,767 virus-related deaths since the beginning of the pandemic.
